carnegie mellon vs mit [#permalink]

which of these two business schools is tougher to get into, ie has a lower acceptance rate? any thoughts?

mit sloan is by far the harder program to get into. it is in a completely different cluster than tepper is. im sure tepper is a good program, but sloan is much more competitive to get into.

I'd say that because of the class size, MIT is one of the hardest to get into. Perrhaps as hard as Stanford.

MIT is probably one of the hardest programs to get into...CMU is tough for certain people (IT/Computers) but still far easier than MIT. Also CMU application is much easier than MITs.

thanks guys. why is tepper tougher for computers/IT people, i figured it would be better for them since they accept a lot of people with that background compared to other business schools?

CMU is one of the top comp sci schools in the world (right up there with MIT) so it has a very strong rep in the industry. It kind of carries over, many of the applicants are engineers and computer people so they have more competition than people from other backgrounds.

Yea, I'd say it's in a different class. Sloan is arguably a top 5 program. Tepper is not even in the elite cluster.

Agree with you on that. But if some body wants to work in a high-tech company, the difference may not be so huge.
