Hi Anu,
I've organized my response to your inquiry into two distinct categories to offer you the best possible response.
Academic Profile
You’ve included your GMAT score, and based on that information, I believe you should be targeting less competitive MBA programs, which have acceptance rates of 30%-50%. We think it's helpful for candidates to think about the acceptance rates of the schools they are applying to so they can target realistic schools. GMAT Club publishes those acceptance rates here:
all-2014-mba-rankings-99812.html.
Keep in mind that some of the "Less Competitive" business schools still say no to two out every three applicants; we aren't suggesting that all you have to do is submit your application and pay the application fee. You will have to work just as hard on your applications to these programs, especially if you have risk factors in your profile.
Other: Target Programs
You asked about the MBA programs available in the UNC system and their rankings. The UNC brand can take you far, and the satellite programs are still a part of that brand. The lower rankings may be attributed to the relative newness of the programs. The Kenan-Flagler flagship MBA program simply has more standing and an established network with considerable resources. I would ask the admissions committees at those other programs what shared resources are available to all students in the UNC system.
Best of luck!
