I am thinking of buying access to GMAT club challanges...I have a question, the 25 challenges were released on 01/01/2006. hasn't there been any development after that...what about the weekly challenges administered after 01/01/2006 ? Do we have to purchase the up to date challanges separately?

Please help! Your opinion about 800 score CATs [#permalink]

Hi guys. Could anybody advise me what is the correlation between 800score CAT's scores and real GMAT scores. Do they reflect a real situatioin? And also please let me know your opinion about their questions in comparison with a real thing. Many thanks!

GMAT challenges are not adaptive and they are only quants.

Unfortunately the 800score tests are not a good indication of your real score. First, the math is ALOT harder on 800score than the real test. I was consistently not finishing about 3-5 questions on 800score, whereas I finished the real test with about 2 min left. However, the math does help you learn tricks and beat the real challenging problems (which you will only see if you are in the 46-50 range). I felt the verbal was way too easy on 800score. I consistently made 46+ and then made a 36 on the real test. On the GMAT practice tests I was consistently making 42-45, so 800score was pretty easy. Overall I was getting around 700-720 on the 800score and I got a 680 on the real test. I personally wouldn't recommend the 800score tests. Hope this helps.

The Princeton CATs are good only if you are in the 600 range and want to get to 700 but not necessarily higher than that. If you are a 700+ scorer already, those tests will be on no benefit. The Q in particular is ridiculously easier than the real thing. Again, that's for high scorers. If you are an average scorer, this might be a good start.

Here is my take. I used a lot of these as well as bellcurves.net..
I took the test in July and got a 750 (Q 49, V 44)..
Manhattan GMAT CATs (3 for $24)
A MUST very helpful for problem concepts and a lot of questions are similar to MGMAT
Verbal is good but as with all other providers, they can't match the OG and some of the questions in CR especially are iffy..Expect a score of about 20-40 points higher on actual GMAT as MGAT is harder..
- 800score tests (5 for $19.95)
I wouldn't really recommend this..
- Crack-GMAT CATs (5 for $19.95)
Great resource for Quant.. DO NOT use VERBAL
- Veritas (Part of their package)
??
- GMATClub Challenges (25 for $79)
A MUST You need this Resource to learn how to solve harder problems.. Best money I spent aside from the MGMAT SC book.. If you can get 80 percentile (not 80% right) on the challenges consistently and know your fundamentals, you should be fine for 45+ quant
- Kaplan CATs (we have enuff enough already)
- Princeton Review CATs (we have enuff enough already)

I just tried the MGMAT test #1. all I can say is "good god!"
the quant is harder than gmatclub.com's challenge problem set. Most of my questions are 700-800 level and I missed nearly half of them. And I completely mismanaged my time and didn't finish the last 4-5 problem (i bubbled them).
I think I barely missed any problem on GMATprep's math.

Kaplan is ridiculous. I scored a 570 on one of their practice CAT tests (after scoring a 660 and a 700 on the official ones). I took the actual GMAT a week later and scored a 710. I get that the Kaplan questions are harder, but scoring that low on a practice test almost shattered my confidence.

I have a question in regard to study materials. I have a solid foundation on content as far as quant goes but does anyone know of a good book (that's readable within a few weeks) that focuses strictly on strategy, such as guessing strategies, how do better at attacking DS problems, adaptive exam strategies, how to decipher a certain strategy given a certain problem, etc. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi. I have used GPrep, Kaplan, PR and Manhattan tests...during my previous attempt. I am looking for some representative practice tests. Can anyone enlighten me with few good practice tests?
