Cattle were domesticated both for the uses made of the animal --food and leather -- but also for the labor the animal could provide.

A) but also for
B) and for
C) or for
D) but also
E) and also

This question is from Kaplan Verbal book (3rd ed.) It's given in the explanation that "And also" is considered redundant on GMAT, but then I found at many places the usage of "And also" in OG.

Someone please shed some light on this?

The two reasons for domesticating cattle are
1. uses of the animal
2. labor the animal could provide.

Idiom is "both X and Y" and by parallelism it has to be option B

I think that "and also" is always redundant.

Cattle were domesticated both for X and for Y

B for me.
