Dont you think there is a room for mis represenation here?

interesting to know how do adcoms weigh these things?

For example I have done x amount of social service

another guy who hasnt done it could still claim the same acts.

Any thts?

what I mean by certificate is a documentary evidence
like for a Job you would have an offer letter, salary slips, relieving letter etc

If you are a Big Brother Big sister/red cross volunteer you would have some form of documentary evidence

But on the otherhand if you are doing something on your own like giving free coaching, helping riot victims you may not have documentary eveidence

My question was should we/is it appropriate to mention such activities even if we dont have any documenst to certify them?

Absolutely.

Even for my jobs, no way am I going to present a salary slip. What the heck. If they want to check it - the'll call my employer and ask.

Relax man, you can mention anything. However, if you lie, you will most probably screw it up during an interview or elsewhere.

Thanks
I asked becuase I mentioned about leading a fund raising activity for the church for two years some 12 years back.

I do not have a certificate but fortunately the father of the church is still alive and ready for any investigation queries :)

Thanks a lot that makes me more comfortable

Most of the times they won't even bother to investigate, especially the extracurrs. If they see something very fishy, they can make a quick check, but no way will they dig for every of the 6000 cricket clubs they receive with the apps.
