Originally I plan to submit the application in 2nd round. Unfortunately, given the unsatisfied GMAT score, I think I may postpone submitting the application in the 3rd round (or may be last round of some high-rank university). What about my chances to get into the the school? Or should I stick to the 2nd round plan? Any advice/suggestions are more than welcome.

How low is your GMAT? How is your GPA? What schools are you interested it?

As requested,

My GMAT score is 480 (Q43, V14).
GPA = 2.9
Work Experience = 9 years (in well-known IT consulting firm)
My focus is on top 20 MBA schools.
I want to apply to the school as higher rank as I can. But I am not sure whether I can get into those schools with low GMAT. So I plan to take GMAT again around the mid of December. By that time, I don't think I have enough time to submit the application for 2nd round.

Please advise !!!

You need to have a higher GMAT to apply successfuly at top 20 schools. You may want to try to submit one or two applications by the second round and the rest third round, but your top priority first to rasie that test score and then to craft great applications. You will not be able to do so for all your schools by the second round deadlines. So do the best you can-- 1-2 R2 and the rest R3.
