Chances at Accounting PHD? [#permalink]
27 Apr 2011, 15:26
I am graduating this May from Duke. Here are my current stats.
UGPA: 2.9 [lousy freshman year.. ~2.0, strong upward trend], graduating with a degree in Math. Accounting GPA: 4.0 [my college doesn't offer many accounting classes though, hence why I am getting the masters to even take the CPA exam.]
GMAT: 710 [50Q, 35V, 6.0 AWA]
I got into a few masters of accounting programs and decided on the Rutgers MBA-PA program. Would doing well in the Masters program help me out with getting a PHD?? I have the opportunity to take on my own research project while I am at Rutgers.
This is based on the assumption that I want to focus on audit research upon grad school. Would this be a good list of schools to apply to?
Which schools should I add? Which schools should I take off? Would boosting my GMAT to ~740 help? I know I can bring Verbal up. I know that a strong graduate GPA would only help a little bit and a bad one would hurt a lot but would working as a research assistant help at all?
