I've looked through
accepted.com and I was wondering how you can help a candidate like me. Here is a brief summary of my background.
I started university in the US at 16. I came to the US all alone and attended a Cal State for one semester. I decided that I wanted to be at a more competitive and reputable college so I transfered to Univ of Washington in Seattle. I was there two years and didn't do very well academically. I then moved down to Orange County, CA and attended a junior college before getting my act together and getting into RPI. I graduated from RPI with a 3.6 undergrad GPA. I also completed my Masters in IT from RPI with a GPA of 3.4 while working at a fortune 500 company as a software engineer. I volunteer often at things such as habitat for humantiy and different walks for various charities and such. I also coach a U-11 boys soccer team. My extracurricular activities are outstanding.
My main problem is explaining the years from when I was 16 and started university to when I got my act together. To me those years were great life learning experiences and self discovery but they are not represented by any transcript or anything.
I am studying for the GMAT right now and will be giving it in March. I am applying for Fall '07.
I am aiming for the top schools. My question to you is what are my chances and more importantly what do you think
accepted.com can do for me? Will your services help me you think?
Thanks in advance.
We can definitely help you present those years as a maturation process. It helps that this was many years ago and there is a "happy ending." You didn't say how many years in total you struggled before getting your act together, but assuming that in the end you graduated at about the same age as other applicants and that everything since then has been good then your early struggles should not be a deal-breaker. We can definitely help you minimize the negative overtones and maximize the "life lessons." It's what we do.
