Chances - IMD, INSEAD [#permalink] New post 30 Mar 2009, 09:31
Hi, could anyone evaluate my chances at INSEAD, IMD?
I'm planning on applying in a year or so

-Male
-Country: Uzbekistan
-Age: would be 28-31
-GMAT: 710 (Q51, V35), possibly would retake and score higher
-work experience: ~4-5 years at local manufacturing company in Uzbekistan, managed the division. Not much international exposure, in fact my work experience is the weakest chain in my profile
-extras: not impressive
-education: BA econ from unknown university in Uzbekistan, GPA 3.94; Masters in engineering from MIT
-career goals: operations / supply chain, manufacturing industry

thank you,
-d.

Based on your geographical region, experience, academic background and GMAT score - I guess you have great chances at both IMD and INSEAD, in fact at any top school.

BTW - Just because you lack international exposure, your work experience doesn't get discounted as weak. Your insights about working conditions in Uzbekistan and your leadership abilities will be a great asset to your fellow students. You should have a great chance at any top school. Depending on your career goals and your fit, choose the schools.

d.,

Your country of origin will help you stand out from the pack and your GMAT score is good, so you will get a good look by top schools. Your odds at IMD will be higher than at INSEAD, but given your leadership responsibilities at work you should be competitive at both schools. If you don't have leadership impact outside of work, spend the next year gaining it. Your lack of international experience is not in itself a major negative, especially given that you are applying from a country that doesn't send a lot of people to top B-schools.

Good luck,
