Change in GMAT Percentiles [#permalink] New post 21 Sep 2007, 19:35
Hi,

I recently requested for an additional score report to be send across to schools and discovered that percentile distribution has changed. I had 94% tile. The new report also shows a 94% percentile. But the chart below indicates a different story. As per the chart my score would correspond to 93% tile now. The percentile distribution for AWA has changed significantly.

Please let me know how do schools look at this. Do they consider percentile distribution at the time of test taking or now when I have reported scores to them.

Please help

Regards
Yogesh

I mean the chart you can see below your score table in official report
showing the percentile distribution. The table shows my original score but chart below shows a change in percentiles.
Though changes in quant and verbal have been minimal, Change in AWA is 6 percentile for me.

I called the GMAT administrators about this same issue and apparently the percentile/average continues to change over 3 years as more people take the test.

I'm assuming that schools are aware of this issue...

...and it appears that test takers are doing better on the AWA these days.

Some schools ask for the percentile next to your raw score. I really don't see a problem with putting down the percentile you received when you took the test.
