A lot of importance is given to voluntary/charity work for admissions. I can see that most people have worked/contributed to organizations or participated in races etc to raise funds.
My charity work has been very different though. I am educating two children in India and often help families financially My family runs a firm which employes women and a lot of employees have financial difficulties because of their husbands not working/ sole responsibility/children etc. Is that counted as charity work too? How can I prove this kind of charity work? Do I have to prove these kind of activities?
Remgeo,
Educating children definitely counts as charity work and will be valued by B-schools. Helping famlies financially is also admirable, but "simply" porviding money is not valued by B-schools as highly since it's comparatively easier to do than giving your time and energy. If your firm intentionally employs women as some kind of social impact policy then that is certainly worth mentioning in your essays, especially if you yourself play a role in this policy or in hiring the women. As for "proving" this work, schools don't expect you to provide any documentation, but you could corroborate it by having your recommenders mention it.
Hope this helps,
