The deadline for SSE was 17th January and CBS 1st March (for non-danish)... sorry

I think that 780 GRE is sufficient for SSE, I have no idea what they make out of your grades though.

I applied to both CBS and SSE before the deadline... so don't be sorry :)

Thanks for your remark.

Damn, then you will compete with me both for SSE and CBS :-)

I think you have very good chances at SSE. The number of non-EU applicants for this year has decreased due to the fact that non-EU-students now must pay tuiton fee at about 24k USD annually for the MSc-program.

How close was your GMAT and GRE? Fairly good improvement there :-)

Hi!
I live in Sweden and was considerng applying to SSE for their M.Sc. Program as well. So I called them and asked about admissions. They said they dont even look at grades, and only look at your GMAT scores. The average amongst accepted students is bout 660, so if you are above that you are almost guaranteed to be admitted. Since they admitted a lot of people with lower scores, and they only go by GMAT:s. There are no essays and no interviews; nothing but GMAT scores that will determine whether you get in or not.

This is Sweden: Universities only go by quantifiable and clearly comparable criteria when deciding on admissions, since it is considered to be the most fair way of doing this. The process is similiar when it comes to other forms of university applications in sweden, where the only thing the look at is your GPA. No extra-curriculars, no recommendations: nothing but GPA determines admission to university.

I don't really think you are right on everything...

I came to SSE and asked them. The average score for the MSC finance is 685 not 660.

They do not take many people only 20 maximum.

And yes they accept the GRE but you need a very high one, why wouldn't they care putting the GRE on their website?
If they didn't take care of it they would do like Rotterdam where they accept only GMAT.

THey don't care about letter of recommendation, I agree with you. That's why they don't put it online.

but we will see in 2 weeks.

Ok, but that means if you get over 685 you are guaranteed to get in :) I didnt really mean to exclude the GRE, what I meant to exclude primarily was GPA, interviews, extra-curriculars and recommendations. None of those things will count.

Havent taken the GMAT yet, my appointment is on May 27th. But I got a 710 on the GMATprep before I started studying. If I apply, ill apply in January 2012. In Sweden, its generally not like in the U.S. where they look at profiles of applicants and such. Instead they just determine who has the highest scores amongst the applicants and admit them. If 685 is average amongst those accepted it means they accepted people with lower scores than that, which means you are guaranteed a spot with a score of 685 or higher.

Im considering SSE since it would not cost any tuition for me, and I could continue studying at law school in stockholm at the same time.

What is the job market amongst the BB in Europe currently. Is hiring as poor as the USA. Are only top students able to get S&T and IB

I think you will be fine, if they admit people with lower scores they will absolutetly admit you. They have nothing else to judge you on, anyway.

I just received an offer from SSE MSc Finance, considering my low GMAT I definitely think they look into grades and WE. I do not believe that they base their admission solely on GMAT, why would they even ask for your CV if they wouldn't look at it?

They probably make an all assessment based on GMAT, WE and grades (in relevant courses).

Thats what they told me when I called their admissions office and asked what they look at. But your GMAT score is 650, and they told me the average of the admitted students is 660, so its not unplausible that they only looked at your GMAT score to determine admission. If 660 is the average, 650 shoud certainly be enough to get in. They told me they only look at grades to see what classes youve taken in order to determine eligibility, and nothing else. Thats what they told me at SSE's admissions office. I think its their general policy to make exceptions if you have done something exceptional in your professional life, which is why they ask for CV. Im not completely sure, but I am assuming that the person I spoke to knew what she was talking about and was straightforward with me.

Well, I have spoken to admission too (and other people admitted at SSE) I do not agree with you completely.
I agree with you that GMAT is the most important factor and that you probably have to meet som GMAT threshold to even be considered for certain concentrations.

I have read the same discussion consering SSE on other boards and the truth is no one know for sure exactly how the admission process works since they do not publish any stats at all for admitted students.

Basically what I've already written, they make an all assessment based on your whole profile.

Right now I know two persons (myself included) with 650 who have been accepted this year first round and one person with 670 who have not been accepted. This, if anything, would rule out your idea that GMAT is the only determining factor.

Hey i have a GMAT over 680- SSE accepted me for their MSc Finance programme. not sure how my cred measures up to the rest of the candidates but i have in shorter than 11 months of internship experience combined. GPA score estimated to be 4.5/5.0. Recommendations should be average.

Nevertheless, too expensive
