B is best.

really dont know how to explain this.

ok, only A, B and C are possible..

the first sentence modifies Dr Charles Drew..and the sentence should start with Dr Charles Drew..

A is best

B...no clear referent for " which"

which can refer to "transfusions" OR "whole blood"

C... no clear referent for "it"..

"it" can refer to "discovery" , blood plasma or whole blood

also, Dr charles drew's discovery "WAS" that ....in this "WAS"

is incorrect

(D) their own food from vegetable gardens in

(E) its own food from a vegetable garden in a

Good one!

i think its D.

tough one to explain

Quote:
тАвIn many upper-class Egyptian homes, French was
spoken within the family, <just as it had once been
among the Russian aristocracy.>

(A) just as it had once been among the Russian
aristocracy
(B) just like it once had been among the Russian
aristocracy
(C) just as the Russian aristocracy had once done
(D) similar to what the Russian aristocracy had
done once
(E) like what had once been done by the Russian
aristocracy

First .... there is no "deed" here...so i think we dont need "done" anywhere..

its between A and B.

i will go with A...

with B..just like it "once" had been....

i dont think "once" is properly placed here..

Quote:

тАвThe hypothesis has been advanced that the
ancestors of such plants and animals as the giant
sequoia, the alligator, and the horse appeared on the

(A) before lower latitudes
(B) before at lower latitudes
(C) before they did it at lower latitudes
(D) before they appeared at lower latitudes
(E) preceding their appearance at lower latitudes

D is best

A...incorrect comparison

C.. "did it" makes no sense here...

i couldnt find a way to explain why E and B are wrong

thanks
