First of all, I'll point out --- this is miscategorized. It's categorized as SC, but it's really CR.

So, Child's World, like every other megacomglomerate, has come up with the brilliant idea of eliminating all individualized human service. They have done this with toys, adopting what the paragraph euphemistically calls the "supermarket concept," and now it want to apply the same impersonal model to the sale of children's clothes. Which is an assumption?
(A) supermarkets will not also be selling children’s clothes in the same manner
A brilliant distractor. Nothing in the argument has anything to do with what actual supermarkets are doing. It's just that the model is called the "supermarket concept." Supermarkets inspired the name of the concept, but no supermarkets are actually discussed. This is not correct.

(B) personal service by sales personnel is not required for selling children’s clothes successfully
BINGO! This is what underlies their dystopian model ---- actual individualized service by a living & breathing human does not matter. This is a strong candidate for the answer.

(C) the same kind of computers will be used in inventory control for both clothes and toys at Child’s World
Both divisions will use computers, but the actual kind of computer doesn't matter at all --- one using Windows, the other using Macs, that doesn't matter at all. This is not correct.

(D) a self-service plan cannot be employed without computerized inventory control
Here, in both division, Child World is going to employ the combination of customer self-service with a computerized inventory control. Does one require the other? Do they both require each other? Any statement about all stores that use customer self-service, in all times and places, is a little beyond the scope of this argument. This is not correct.

(E) sales clerks are the only employees of Child’s World who could be assigned tasks related to inventory control
We have no idea how Child World is going to shuffle around employees. Maybe the minimum-wage sales clerks in America are going to get canned, and the corporation, in a cost-cutting move, will hire folks in some third-world country to run the inventory remotely for pennies a day. Or maybe it will use the sales clerks. We don't know. This is not correct.

Thus, (B) is the only acceptable answer.
Does all this make sense?
