Choice between MS now or MBA after 2 years ? [#permalink]
06 Jul 2011, 13:34
Hey, I just gave my GMAT. I got a score of 770 and am awaiting my AWA scores. I did my engineering from BITS Pilani Goa Campus and have a CGPA of 9.91. What I want to know are the following questions:
1. Should I go for MiM now or wait for 3 years and try for MBA ? If I wait, what are my chances of getting HBS, Stanford, MIT with my CGPA and GMAT score ? 2. Which will be the best schools to which I should apply for MiM ? 3. I have a financial constraint. So which school will be able to give me the best ratio of input to returns ?
Thanks a lot for the help.. Really need it..

It all depends on what you expect to get from your education...
Generally: -An Msc in Management is designed to help you get into the career you want. -An MBA is designed to help you progress in the career you are currently in.
An Msc in Management is the cheaper option and can also be done part time or fully online. Entry conditions do vary with most requiring GMAT scores, a minimum level of work experience and usually a first degree.
You have quite a high GMAT score and these are valid for (if my memory serves) 5 years after the test is taken which means you would have little problem getting access to most schools based on your GMAT score alone.
Are you more interested in starting your career or developing it as it is? Are you interested in part time/full time/distance/online?
Hope that helps! Dan
