Choose schools: Cornell vs Duke vs Ross [#permalink] New post 19 Mar 2011, 23:22
Hi folks, I was admitted to all these three schools. Which would you guys vote for a future career in IB or PE? Duke probably has the highest ranking, but heard it lacks presence in wall street ( not sure if it's true). Cornell seems to have more connections in the industry, but its ranking comes around 16, far behind the others. There are other factors like location which lean to Cornell, but how's the education there? Any advice will be appreciated! Cheers!

Duke does not lack presence on wall street. Many of the big banks recruit at Duke. Additionally, getting into PE won't happen unless you have prior experience (from what all my sources in PE tell me). Regardless of your school choice you are going to get a great education. I would say go where you think you are going to be happiest. I think the differences are not huge (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

Duke and Ross are both marginally stronger than Cornell, and somewhat equal to each other overall. For investment banking specifically, the three schools are probably equal. I believe all of the big banks recruit at all three schools. As lagomez suggested, you should pick which school you'll be happiest at, assuming the costs are equal.

Cornell - it gets the most banks and is close to NYC.
