Choosing a Recommender [#permalink] New post 06 Dec 2010, 12:27
Hi, Just had a question regarding choosing a recommender.

What gives more weight to your application? Does it matter more how high level the recommender is or how closely they worked with you?

Your direct supervisor (who is relatively midlevel)
Your department head
Your Global Sector Head
A client that is a large company who you have worked with?

Your recommenders are key to the core message that you are trying to communicate about yourself during the application process. They should know you well and be able to illustrate your strengths with specific examples. The content of the LOR is much more important that the title of the recommender. Additionally, try to get a variety of recommenders who can give examples covering a wide range of work experiences. You want individuals who have seen you perform in different types of situations.

Hope this helps!
