City of Work Experience [#permalink]

I know that, besides the GMAT score, an applicant's work experience is one of their top selling points for acceptance into a top MBA program. That said, if you are working at a top company for these programs, does the city of your work experience matter? In other words, would it be a point against me if I was working in the middle of the country somewhere versus a large city such as New York?

I don't think so. No. Unless, you are comparing NY and a small village in a rare corner. And then too, that experience should have added something to your learning and you should have highlighted that in your apps to make it sell. In another case when you are applying to a school in the same city you are working in: this 'might' favor your chances. (Again, YOU would need to tell why). That said, as you go higher up the rankings these factors dont count much at all.
