Class of 2010 - MBA JumpStart..Worth a look [#permalink]
14 Apr 2008, 13:40
http://www.mbajumpstart.com//forums.phpThis is 2.5 day program in Chicago this July. Seems to be very interesting... Any current students or friends of current students attend this? If yes, how useful was it...

"2008 Diversity Forum"
I was under the impression that in MBA/Business lingo, the term "Diversity" indirectly meant no whites, no east-indians and no asians.

See bottom of the page: Quote: Minority for MBA JumpStart is defined as individuals that are under-represented in business including women, African-American, Latin-American, and Pacific Islander.

Yeah it looks like a good program. I got an email from Michigan about it. I applied and will hopefully be going.

I tried calling them but no one answered...anyone have an idea about internationals' eligibility to attend this event?

Generally in America non-citizens are not considered to be a "minority" for these purposes. This is somewhat strange for someone like my wife, who will qualify as a minority in about 3 years when/if she gets her citizenship =). This being said, they can't/won't (hardly matters) keep you from attending something because you aren't a minority. They may try to guilt you into no "stealing a spot" from some "needy" person, but they won't stop you. It would be FAR too politically incorrect. I'm not sure what the exact laws are on this, but this seems to be the "de-facto" situation. Non-minorities don't cry foul as long as we are allowed to attend! Welcome to Racial politics in America. Let the fun begin!

Try sending them an email maybe? I would say if it doesn't explicity say that internationals are prohibited from applying then go for it. The worst thing that could happen would be that they do not select you and you lose the $50 application fee.
