Why "clueless" - it seems to me you absolutely deserved it!
(The algo is a gray box indeed, though =)

Congratulations on the great score and wishing you even more pleasant surprises with the application process (and the ultimate result =)

Now, on the "Do not study extremely difficult material" point - it helps people with speed (generally) and composure (on the actual test). Having practiced truly hard problems at least gives you a feeling of whether a particular question on the exam is "worth skipping" - i.e. above a certain ceiling beyond which you should feel no regrets...

Thanks,mate! I am not sure whether I "deserved" it but I am happy that I ended up getting more than what I had hoped for. How many times in life do you actually end up getting more than what you desire? I think rarely. Most of the times, you end up getting less than what you want, but as goes the saying "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you may get". So sometimes life does give you good surpises. :)
I agree with your view about practising difficult problems so that you know what to skip and what not to. But wasting a lot of time on inordinately difficult questions is not a very good idea. One may practice these kind of questions now and then, but not too often.

@Paulrichards,
Going by the systematic way you have mentioned in which you prepared for the exam, your score isn't very surprising,I'd say.You climaxed just at the right time. Congratulations, by the way. Which schools do you plan to apply to ?

Thanks! Yeah, I'm happy that I climaxed(as you said) at the right time. I am kinda researching about the programs I am interested in applying but not boiled down to any particular few. Any suggestions ?

Congratulations!

Interesting. Scoring seem quite a bit off.... I have 750 with Q49 and V42 vs 750(Q-50,V-44).
But based on this chart, it is OK.... interesting how things change gmat-scores-83890.html

I feel you should have a higher score (compare yourself with Nink for example - members/member-58260.html) he has 770 with the same stats.

I think what is as important on the GMAT as your preparation is the temperament you maintain while you take the actual exam. And that's where taking a couple of practice CATs play an important part. You should be able to train your mind in such a way that you are prepared for all sort of situations. Mental stamina is again one very important thing you require for the GMAT. Especially by the time one reaches the Verbal section, a person is exhausted and the exhaustion starts taking its toll after you reach midway on the Verbal section ,so mental stamina is important.

Congratulations on such a great score. I have been preparing for the last 3 months-putting quite a lot of hours ; however, somehow I haven't been able to gain confidence till now.Any tips on how to determine when I am prepared enough to take the GMAT ?

Hi, Did you take the practice tests along with both sections of the AWA? I am just about to start taking practice tests now and I would like to know how important it is that you take the AWA along with the practice tests.
