Hi Guys,

I came across the following coordinate geometry question. How should I go about solving it ?

Q-1) A circle whose center is at (6,8) passes through the origin. Which of the following point is NOT on the circle?

(a) (12,0)
(b) (6,-2)
(c) (16,8)
(d) (-2,12)
(e) (-4,8)

OA:D

I was able calc the radius but after that I got stuck.

Can anyone explain me logic/way to solve it ?

Thanks,
GR

Since the radius can be found which is 10 units...
Try to findout the distance between the points in the choice and the center. The distance has to be equal to the radius calculated earlier.
So the answer is (d) (-2,12).

Quick way:

You have the center & a point-- you can calculate the radius -- 10.

Then go through each point and find the distance of the point from the center, if it's ==10 it's on the circle, otherwise it's not.

In this case it's D.
