Final results:
Applied 10/4/12 Invited 12/3/12 Interviewed 12/8/12 Feedback 12/9/12 Denied 12/14/12
An unfortunate twist as Tuck was the school I was expecting to reject me today, not Columbia.

My sincere consolations for the ding-getter.... best wishes for a successful life despite Columbia.
Anyone feels that the number of admits reported here has been comparatively higher compared to last year?

For those of us who submitted in November, I guess we'll hear in the next 2 weeks regarding an interview, maybe even early january since the holidays are coming up. Pretty nerve wrecking.

3yrs work experience is on the low end? Maybe recommendations/interview wasn't as good as I thought it was? Cheesy and uninspiring essays? Your guess is as good as mine. A ding analysis is underway as of half an hour ago, so I guess I'll find out then.

Does application status get updated after interview (on the Columbia admit portal) - I was interviewed Wednesday but no update on the site...wondering if my interviewer has not yet loaded comments...

You will receive an email from Columbia when the interview uploads their feedback. And you should get a new status message. The first page will always say "Submitted" but the page that shows your status updates and interview letter will have a new update.

If I had to guess, it was the career goals essay, which columbia is absolutely obsessed with. Who knows though since I haven't read your application. It's unfortunate that stacy blackman consulting did not do much for you.

I got my invite on Monday but as of today, two of the three interviewer matches have told me that they cannot do it while the third hasn't responded to my initial email on Monday. I re-submitted my request through CBS's application website and received the same three interviewers again! I've heard that this is common. For my own anecdote, the ambassador on the top of my list's e-mail kicked back to me as undeliverable. The second ambassador replied on the same day and we had the interview that very weekend. Probably very hit or miss. Wow! That surprises me. You would think admissions would vet the contact information before sending it out to interviewees... Posted from my mobile device My guess is that its up to the interviewer to keep their contact information up to date. Or perhaps the interviewer just made a typo?

Does anyone know if/when they will take a christmas break? I just had my interview, it would suck to wait until January...

Looks like you could potentially hear between Christmas and New Years. The fastest turn-around from interview feedback to admit has been a week. The average is a little over a week or maybe 2 weeks. It will depend a lot on how quickly your interviewer submits his/her feedback. That is when the clock really starts, not from when you conducted the interview. If they are good and get the feedback uploaded today then I think you should be good. If it takes them a few days then you might be stuck waiting until January.

Does anyone know much about the Columbia Merit Fellowships? When do they announce the awards (is it at the time of admission?) and typically how large are they?

Below is my unfortunate chain of events. The dates may be slightly off because I'm recalling purely from memory. Applied 10/3 (Early Decision) Dinged around 10/20
I e-mailed admissions a few days after my ding to ask for application feedback. I would have loved to hear back anything, even something as blunt as "Essays sucked," or "GMAT BAD," you know... help the brother out. Instead, I received an e-mail informing me admissions did not have the capacity to provide feedback for everyone. It's unfortunate, but that's life and I have to move on.
Anyway, congrats to everyone that's already in! You all should be very proud!

The deadline is end of January and last year most awards were announced in Feb/Mar time-frame. That being said, I have spoken to somebody who was accepted Regular Decision this year and he received scholarship money with his admit letter. So I'm not 100% sure how the process is working this year. So far he is the only individual I have spoken to that received money but that makes sense because there really is no benefit for the school to offer money to ED applicants. We are already committed to the school regardless.

I hope that we as early birds didn't overcommit and deserve some $. Not sure about merits, but we will participate in need-based carve-up, as we all need $.

For what is worth:
Apply 11/25 Last Recommendation: 12/2 Dinged: 12/19
I always thought your status changes to under review first. Is my application that bad?
