IN!!!!! Got the call today.

Submitted 9/5
Invited to interview 9/24
Interviewed 9/29
Interview submitted 9/30
Admitted 10/8

Actually wasn't expecting to hear back for another 2-3 days given the post-interview timelines I've seen.

Best of luck to all and keep us all updated!

Hey all,

So excited to share that I received the acceptance call today! :-D

Submitted: 20th Aug (recommendations et all)
Invited to interview: 10th Sept (exactly 3 weeks later)
Took a long time to find an interviewer...most were busy
Interviewed: 3rd October
Interview submitted: 5th October
Admitted: 8th October

I’m quite surprised that I got the acceptance call so soon after my interview feedback was submitted. 5th was a Saturday so I presume they saw the file and made a decision on Monday 7th October and then called me on the 8th because of the time difference (+9.5 hours for India).

Anywhoooo, it feels great. Best of luck to all the applicants and if you need any help - please feel free to reach out!

I was just accepted to the J-term program this week, but I've applied to a couple other programs that start next fall and the notification date for those isn't until December. Does anyone know when you have to commit to J-term program? I'm ecstatic to be admitted to CBS - just wondering if I will be able to hear from other schools at all.

I think the commitment is 2k now and 1k by Nov 15, so total of 3k. I think its a good bet to just pay the deposits, start the process and still wait to hear from other schools and make a final choice later. In the long run, the 3k will be <3% of your total cost and will be more than made up by the extra months you work before going to Chicago/Kellogg.

I'm in a similar boat, so playing it safe by covering my bets.

Ahh. I'm also waiting to hear back from Kellogg, but CBS was my first choice so I'm going to go with it. What are your first choices?

INSEAD. Applying only to 1 year courses so its one or the other. Very drawn to CBS for NY, Finance, etc. but want to work in Asia long term so hesitant.

Hey

What is your immediate post-MBA professional goal? (100 characters maximum)

Examples of possible responses

Essay 1:

Given your individual background, why are you pursuing a Columbia MBA at this time? (Maximum 500 words)

Essay 2:

Columbia Business School is located in the heart of the world's business capital - Manhattan. How do you anticipate that New York City will impact your experience at Columbia? (Maximum 250 words)

Please view the videos below:

New York City - limitless possibilities

Essay 3:

Optional Essay

Agree on renaming the thread to Class of 2015. Has Columbia began admitting any folks to the J-Term yet (from the Regular Fall Waitlisters) ? Thanks for the info!

Cheers

what's the demographic typically like for a J-Term student? I currently have 5 years of experience in IB / Corpfin so just curious if this is the type of program for me. Haven't met anyone from J-Term

Do you want to stay in that career field or something similar? Typically J-term is bad for career switchers or fields where you tend to get hired from a summer internship(since you won't have an internship). If you have strong experience and don't need an internship then this is the quickest route through the program and might be good for you.

I don't mind staying in the current field I'm in actually (strategy and planning). When I started the process I was set on going back to a part-time program but the idea of getting an MBA from M7 sounds way more appealing now after hours of research :) I did i-banking before switching to corporate (I was in final round for a small PE fund...which I didn't get) and I still have a glimmer of desire to go into IM...but most likely to end up in CF.

In case other people are waiting too... I figured I'd post my timeline.

Interview 8/1
Interview feedback submitted 8/1

Awaiting final decision!

Reading last year's thread makes me nervous...

Submitted my application on 16th Aug. Waiting to hear! Seems like it is a 2 - 3 week wait.

Do they send a confirmation saying all aspects of the application are in place?

I don't think they will tell you when everything is set. I think the best way is to double check the application proof and submission sheet (that shows the required documents). If you're unsure, maybe its best to call the office and ask... but I didn't receive a notification.

Good luck to you both!
