Coming in for round 2 [#permalink] New post 22 May 2012, 06:00
Hi Guys

Gave my first attempt yesterday. Scored a 660. Q47, V35. Bitterly disappointed. Last MGMAT CAT I gave I hit the 740 mark. I'm aiming for a 700. At least.

Just to give you guys a bit of history:

I've done OG 10, and OG12.
Did the GMATPrep tests once.

Bought MGMAT CATs. Did 4, including the free one, before my actual test. I've got hold of MGMAT 8 book series. Will go back to the basics, specially for the verbal. Figured I wasn't very comfortable with number properties and integers, and I'm going to go down to basic concepts and work myself up from there.

I don't want this to drag out too much, so I'm aiming for a retake in the next 4-6 weeks.

While I've got reasonable material, this is what I'm planning on:

Doing OG 10 again. (After brushing up on the basics and working myself up)
GMATPrep Reset
MGMAT Reset
For the above two, would my scores be a reflection of my ability, or will the repetition of questions skew the score?

I'm looking for more practice material. For SCs, I've bookmarked the 1000sc on this forum.
I have the 99RC by Aristotle.

Any other resources for questions?

Tests?

I'm not going to give up on this. I HAVE to nail GMAT. Since I'm aiming for admissions for Fall 2013, I believe I can stretch my GMAT till July, and still be on schedule with the apps.

Help guys!

Just wanted to add some more background on my prep, and where I'm coming front.

While I did significantly increase my quant scores with practice, my verbal has been stagnant mostly.

I'll be honest here. Throughout my prep period, I've most played it by the ear. Especially the SC. I don't real identify the nouns, the subjects, the verbs, the adverbs, and so on. I'm going to hit MGMAT SC to go back to the basics, and pick it up from there.

I've also considered opting for the MGMAT Database of questions. Would those be useful as added practice?

It seems like you're trying to get a hold of as many questions as you can. Be careful about doing too many questions without identifying your faulty patterns and correcting them.

Good that you are revisiting questions. Don't worry about whether your result is a reflection of your real score or not. Since you've seen the questions before - hold yourself to a higher standard and expect yourself to get everything right. When you expect more from yourself, you'll be surprised how much better you'll do. Think like a GMAT destroyer.

Thank you for the helpful words, GMATPill.

I will destroy the GMAT. The elusive 700+ score is within reach. I just need to buckle down, and get the Verbal section sorted. Quant I make too many silly mistakes. A 49 would be fantastic.

As the video you posted, I AM A CHAMPION!
