Computers that can be identified and traced are of no use to thieves. So Maguda Inc. has instituted a plan to reduce theft by etching the serial number of each computer both on the frame of the monitor and on the face of the hard drive where it will be impossible to overlook.
Maguda Inc.’s plan assumes that

a) thieves do not steal computers that are of no value to them
b) Maguda Inc.’s competitors also plan to etch serial numbers on their computers
c) thieves are more inclined to steal computers than any other type of office equipment
d) etching the serial number on the computer has no effect on the performance of the computer
e) imposing stiffer jail sentences for thieves would not decrease the number of computers stolen

Got to be (A) by POE even it is not "best".

a) thieves do not steal computers that are of no value to them
Negation: thieves DO steal computers that are of no value to them
--> thieves will steal something else beside harddrives & monitors

b) Maguda Inc.’s competitors also plan to etch serial numbers on their computers
They talked nothing about competitor

c) thieves are more inclined to steal computers than any other type of office equipment
Talked nothing about other type of office equipment

d) etching the serial number on the computer has no effect on the performance of the computer
Again, talked nothing about performance of the computer

e) imposing stiffer jail sentences for thieves would not decrease the number of computers stolen
Another bad one, talked nothing about jail

POE led to (A)
