I don't know if I am too late on this discussion, but I think that you should explain the time spent completing your graduate degree in your optional essay. I also believe that some applications ask if each program completed was done on a part time or full time basis. If so, then that solves your problem.

Hi deeptiprof,

You can discuss the 5 year program, however I recommend you discuss your undergraduate GPA as a higher priority. Here is how one candidate addressed his sub 3.0 GPA and was accepted into Columbia and Chicago.

With regards to addressing the 5 years, you can include a line or few mentioning your full-time work while you pursued a degree part-time.
