Hi.
I want to pursue full time MBA in a US College starting fall 2006. I am totally confused about the colleges that I should choose. Can you please let me know about the B-schools (in top 50) where my profile will be competitive? Please find my profile below

Age: 23

Nationality: Indian

GMAT: 710(Q50/V35)

TOEFL: 227-283

Education: Completed my Electrical Engineering in 2003 from a reputed Indian Engineering college. Got 68% in my degree examination (There was no GPA system in our college)

Work experience: 2 years fulltime IT consulting experience now (will be 3 years by the time I join a B-school). Working in a reputed US based consulting firm now (Among the top 10 consulting firms in US).

Career Goals: Want to pursue my career in Financial Domain or Consulting.

Thanks in advance.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Hello,

Can you tell us more about your background? What do you enjoy doing outside of school or work? What extracurricular activities have you done? These will be important for distinguising yourself from other, very similar candidates.

I was involved actively in extracurricular activities in college:
1) Involved in organizing various technical and cultural fests in my college.
2) Actively involved in organizing departmental industrial trips.

After getting out of college I have been involved with an NGO working for animal welfare.

My hobby is reading. Not involved in games actively :(

Did/do you hold a leadership position in any of those organizations? If so, that will put you in a much stronger position when you apply.

If you're interested in Finance and Consulting, pretty much all of the top schools draws lots of recruiters from both of those disciplines. For Consulting I would look at schools like Harvard, Kellogg, Sloan, Michigan, and Stanford. For Finance I would look at schools like Chicago, Wharton, Sloan, Columbia, and NYU. Some lower-ranked schools that also draw interest in Finance include Rochester and Indiana.
