I recently took a practice CAT and got a verbal score of 31. However, I only got 11 wrong. Throughout the entire test, I only got two consecutive problems wrong twice. At one point in the test, I got 14 consecutive correct. Here is a breakdown of my score in categories.

Sentence Correction: 12/15
CR: 10/12
RC: 8/14

I feel like this is a critical reasoning problem. What conclusion can be drawn from the information above? =)

Hi

the Problem is that you got to many RC questions wrong.
RC is the main part of Verbal. If you are able to get all RC's correct your score will jump over 40+

Hope that helps

What company's CAT did you take? Sometimes they are not very accurate.

I don't think there is any difference in what types of problems you get wrong, just what difficulty they are. If you missed questions early it may be possible that you got sent into the easier buckets of problems which caused you score to suffer overall. Only missing 11 problems is very good no matter what though (as long as they weren't 11 in a row or something) and with that long string of correct answers I believe the score should have been higher.

If you are having trouble with RC I would recommend GMAT Fiction, I think you have a good shot of a very strong verbal score. Good luck!

It does not matter as to how many questions you got wrong , but what weightage those questions had. So it is very difficult to finf out the reason for 31 verbal score , but yes , the trick to get higher score in Verbal is to get as many answers correct as possible , and never to get two consecutive wrong answers.

I am also working on that :)

I doubt if any one section ( ie. RC , CR ,SC) is more important than the other . Try your best to get atleast 8 out of the first 10 questions correct without sacrificing on time too much .

Which test did you take ? Seems odd to give you a score of only 31 with 11 incorrect .
