Connie paid x dollar before sales tax so, 1.08x - 1.05x = 12 0.03x = 12 x = 400 sales tax 400*8% = 32 Connie paid = 400+32= $432 Ans. E _________________

Hi Baten, I did your way. But I only subtracted and not added. the shortcut shown is great. But I am not sure if % can be worked that ways always. _________________
