I've heard otherwise for The McKinsey Way/Mind (Ethan M. Rasiel). McKinsey guys scoff at this one because the author was only at the firm for 2.5 years (That's what I heard). I also read this book and it's a pretty average book. I think you should start networking into MC. Attend events, speak to HR at the consulting companies, ask friends for anyone they know in MC who might be able to give you more information. I wouldn't just read books right now, there are better and more active things you could do to pursue MC and see if it is the right choice for you.
EDIT: Your GMAT score is beastly. That will help your application I believe because consulting companies take GMAT score into consideration.
Aim for the sky! (800 in this case)
