Continuous indoor fluorescent light benefits the health of hamsters with inherited heart disease. A group of them exposed to continuous fluorescent light survived twenty-five percent longer than a similar group exposed instead to equal periods of indoor fluorescent light and of darkness.
The method of the research described above is most likely to be applicable in addressing which of the following questions?
(A) Can industrial workers who need to see their work do so better by sunlight or by fluorescent light?
(B) Can hospital lighting be improved to promote the recovery of patients?
(C) How do deep-sea fish survive in total darkness?
(D) What are the inherited illnesses to which hamsters are subject?
(E) Are there plants that require specific periods of darkness in order to bloom?

Explanations please

I'd go with B on this one. Hospital lighting can be improved(by leaving them turned on 24/24) and it will help the recovery of patients(they will live 25% longer)

I also think it's B.

continuous fluorescent light -> hampsters live 25% longer
improve lighting in hospitals -> patients might live longer (maybe recover)

My answer was D

But after reading through the explanation provided by paul and Grace I had second thoughts abt. my answer and I was sure abt. B after I reread the question
"applicable in addressing" - applicable is the key according to me, in this question!

I will go with B
The arg is about lighting and health
D is too broad and generic.the arg addresses only "inherited heart disease"

B. As it is proved, by the research, that 'this condition' does affect the health. Thus the question that's most likely to arise is whether the research can help patients in the hospital.

Hi all,

I got a very silly doubt!! 8-)

Can we say "You guys are smarter than me", according to GMAT English? I suppose that it is "You are smarter than I am"
or applying brevity rules "You are smarter than I".

Please clarify me. Also, please donot take any offense  . I just want to know what is GMAT English.
