Bhai...isn't "as a result of" preferably used at the beginning of the sentences...for eg:

As a result of combustion, temperature will increase...

My 2 cents on B

Contrary to earlier conjectures, it may be that increased atmospheric carbon dioxide as a result of burning fossil fuels would cool the globe by reducing the amount of solar energy absorbed by snow.
((A) increased atmospheric carbon dioxide as a result of burning
Increased cO2 as a result of burning doesnt fits in properly
(B) increased atmospheric carbon dioxide resulting from the combustion of
CORRECT
(C) increasing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere resulting from the combustion of
This sentence sounds like the intention is to increase C02 in the atmosphere
(D) carbon dioxide in the atmosphere that increase from burning
Since the word prior to this clause is "that", we need a verb here
(E) atmospheric carbon dioxide that increased from burning
Since the word prior to this clause is "that", we need a verb here

I think this question is similar to:
http://www.gmatclub.com/phpbb/viewtopic ... sc&start=0

I would go for B here.

Contrary to earlier conjectures, it may be that increased atmospheric carbon dioxide resulting from the combustion of fossil fuels would cool the globe by reducing the amount of solar energy absorbed by snow.

Why is E wrong? Can some one please explain?

Sentence would look awkward:

Contrary to earlier conjectures, it may be that atmospheric carbon dioxide that increased from burning fossil fuels would cool the globe by reducing the amount of solar energy absorbed by snow.

Also I think it would be good if we say "atmospheric carbon dioxide that increased because of burning of" rather than "atmospheric carbon dioxide that increased from burning". (I am doubtful here, but this is what I believe)

WIll go for B.

Resulting from............ is appropriate here.
Which is better.........

Increased CO2 as a result of burning fuels

Or

Increased Co2 resulting from burning fuels.

I choose C

In C -- use of "would" => that this is a possibility in the future in case the condition mentioned before applies or holds true. Thus - usage of the word "increasing" is more appropriate and correct.

A, B, D, E - use "increased" => that the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere has already increased, which is incorrect.

Further "from the combustion of" looks better form to use here.

I would chose C. increased says that carbon dioxide has already increased which is not what the sentence intends. Its "increasing"
