B is my choice...

C, D and E are out because the referents are inappropriate...

A is awkward to me, howver is close to correct answer :)

A. As a result of-> Redundant

C. atmospheric carbon dioxide is better than carbon dioxide in the atmosphere

D. effusive

E. Same as D..

So I van zero down to B.

I think as a result of - as Patrannn has explained - is redundant.

Consider this -

AS by itself is used to imply "a result" or "reason". For example, I didn't come to office as I was not well. You wouldn't say I didn't come to office as a result of my sickness.

Pl. explain the difference between increased atmospheric carbon dioxide and increasing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere
