On test day, are you allowed to directly copy text from the prompt (use Cntrl+C) and paste it into your essay (use Cntrl+V)? This might save time because it allows one to quickly restate the argument or a piece of the argument. Not sure if direct copying is allowed though. Anyone with experience on this?

Sorry for this late reply. I got my gmat test yesterday and tested it for you: It is unfortunately not possible to copy the AWA prompt.

As stated above, you can't do that. Also, I would not recommend copying anything out of the prompt word for word. You should restate your belief, or the argument in your OWN words. Although I'm sure this should not have a great difference in your score, I do believe it is important to restate and understand the prompt in your own words b/c regurgitating the prompt does not show good writing.
