I believe the page said 11:59PM Est on 10/17, so you should be alright with tomorrow. Either way, submitting tonight is safe.
If you wanted an objective view on your #3 essays from a third party standpoint feel free to share through a PM. Just take it with a grain of salt I guess cause this is a direct competitor offering to help.
I really felt obligated to do the TOC, just because they have been going with it for so many years, I have no truly great failures (I guess I dont try hard enough to have a great fail, shame on me), and I cant offer much to diversity from a white male perspective.

Same here on the diversity note. Thanks for the offer, but I think I'm feeling good about the personal essay. Since I didnt do the TOC, I figured I needed to at least bring a bit more personality into my essay. I tried hard with the TOC... but, sadly, white middle class kids growing up in the suburbs lead pretty lame childhoods... It just came off pretty boring. It was all creativity, and personality... but just lame content until I got into college. I felt compelled to do the TOC too, especially since I'm planning on Marketing post MBA, and am worried they'll think I'm not creative enough to do that option... but... my failure essay was just stronger, and introduced new aspects of my character. Who knows though? I'm sure we're both reading too far into it

Just submitted!
I am a bit skeptical about the TOC essay. With each revision and read, I thought it was getting lamer. But a friend read it, and said the essay was good. So I just went with it. Hopefully, it'll work out.
Good Luck to all!

Any Idea how long should one go back in one's life to answer the """You are the author for the book of Your Life Story. Please write the table of contents for the book."""

There's no fast rule. As far back as you need to make the narrative better. I've seen folks start with birth and others start with undergrad and yet others with there first job. The answer is: whatever best serves your story.

Last year someone heard back the next day (According to the 2012 calling all applicants thread). Apparently they submitted a few days early so their application was looked at early.
I tried to get mine submitted a few days early so mine would be read early and I could get a quick decision, but one of my recommenders was uncooperative and submitted 4 hours before the deadline.
But the nice thing about Johnson is when they open your application, they will actually change your status to under review (it appears). It seems like some candidates heard back from Cornell within a week of the status change.

Thanks Dbalks, my app still doesn't say that they are reviewing it so guess its just a waiting game. I wonder if they review all of the international applicants at the same time, I know Owen does this.

Yeah, the innerworkings of these places are unkown in terms on international applicants. I always pictured Cornell as a first come, first seve kind of place, meaning they will take them in the order they were received. But thats just an opinion and probably a poor guess. I would say the majority of the applicants in last years thread didnt hear back in the first 2 weeks, so I don't expect to for a while.
Its all a waiting game. Keep yourself occupied by filling out a different app (it sadly is what is keeping me sane)

I think I'm under review. Anyone else?
Mine says: "Currently Under Review - We processed your application and supporting documents. Members of the admissions team will review your application. You will receive updates regarding your application status via email and changes to your application status. Please check for updates periodically."

You are the first that I've heard of who has gone under review. Congrats on being one of the first in the pile, good luck!

Thanks! Good luck to you too! I'm sure your status will change soon. I almost wish I hadn't checked and seen the change - now I'm nervous and checking my email constantly.
I submitted a couple weeks ago, so that's probably why. I didn't get an email, so I'm not even sure when exactly my status changed. I checked it on the 18th and it said 'under review,' so that's that.
From looking at last year's posts, it looks like after a status changes it can take up to two weeks to hear back if an invite is sent.

There, indeed, is a possibility that if you submitted your application early, you might get the decision earlier than the official notification day. From Cornell Johnson Admissions blog: Quote: Re: Johnson 2013 Application Essay Questions and Deadlines
@Greg T.: I would like to say you would get a decision before December 19th, but cannot guarantee it this year. We are still formalizing our process and do not want to make any promises we cannot honor. So, we will stay firm with our notification dates. Great question! Best, Christine
