I had sent an email to my app review officer today and she promptly replied that interview invitations have just begun and will go on until Dec. 19. I was a bit surprised to hear the final date . So I guess there is still a lot of time to go before some of us may even hear about our interviews. I guess more wait .

can't speak for cornell's adcom, but in general the schools allow grace period for the recommendation letters, since it's out of your control. the exact # of days depends on when they start reviewing the applications. it would make sense to kick the ones missing recs to the end of the pile for same application round. you will probably get an extra week or so. to be sure, give them a call.

IMO it's definitely not a violation since you would be addressing how you got into the field and on the contrary would indicate a clear career path. However, keep in mind that the essay is limited to 300 words. So you don’t want to be investing too much real estate on talking about internship/part time job but instead highlight it as a trigger point and how your interest/perseverance post that experience shaped the rest of your career. Hope this makes sense.

Ive heard the 30% increase being thrown around for a couple different schools and it makes me hesitant to believe its true. Its simply to big of a jump which cant be justified by changes in ranking. A little embarrassing of a question, but does Cornell interview all accepted applicants? I recall reading somewhere that some schools (Stanford comes to mind...) often don't even interview candidates, but just accept them outright. Is this true? The case with Cornell?

Hey wi11iedigital Yes, Cornell does not give out an offer to any student without an interview. While Stanford did not do so up until 2005-06, it has followed suit since then (From what I know).
