(E) to diagnose coronary disease involving the introduction of a dye into the arteries of the heart, which is now administered selectively, uses

[Reveal] Spoiler:
OA is C

My doubt is in C. Is right to use "involves" and "is" in the same clause? In my opinion, they are not parallel, therefore this option is wrong. Please your comments.

Coronary angiography, a sophisticated method for diagnosing coronary disease involving the introduction of a dye into the arteries of the heart, is now administered selectively, because it uses x-rays to observe cardiac function.
(A) for diagnosing coronary disease involving the introduction of a dye into the arteries of the heart, is now administered selectively, because it uses >>> involving is a change of meaning. A method involving something extra
(B) for diagnosing coronary disease involving the introduction of a dye into the arteries of heart, is now administered selectively, because of using
(C) for diagnosing coronary disease, involvesthe introduction of dye into the arteries of the heart and is now administered selectively, because it uses>>>> involves is correct
(D) to diagnose coronary disease that involves the introduction of a dye into the arteries of the heart, is now administered selectively, because it uses
(E) to diagnose coronary disease involving the introduction of a dye into the arteries of the heart, which is now administered selectively, uses

Now between C and D

The only difference is "for diagnosing" and "to diagnose"

You need a verb + to + diagnose. In the absence of the verb "for diagnosing" is correct.

Coronary angiography, a sophisticated method for diagnosing coronary disease, involves
Coronary angiography, a sophisticated method to diagnose coronary disease that involves. This is wrong.

IMO the ans is A.

Please please please post the OA and source for the questions. Otherwise we are simply killing time.

(A) for diagnosing coronary disease involving the introduction of a dye into the arteries of the heart, is now administered selectively, because it uses >>> involving correctly modifies a method

(C) for diagnosing coronary disease, involves the introduction of dye into the arteries of the heart and is now administered selectively, because it uses >>>> involves incorrectly modifies disease. Author doesn't intend that disease involves injecting dye.

nusmavrik has done a good job eliminating (D) & (E)

noun + (ing) form (diagnosing)

verb + infinitive (to diagnose)

Also, Gerunds - often used when actions are real, concrete or completed:
Infinitives - often used when actions are unreal, abstract, or future:

Coronary angiography, a sophisticated method for diagnosing coronary disease involving the introduction of a dye into the arteries of the heart, is now administered selectively, because it uses x-rays to observe cardiac function.

(A) for diagnosing coronary disease involving the introduction of a dye into the arteries of the heart, is now administered selectively, because it uses - "involving" is modifying the noun "disease" which is incorrect.

(B) for diagnosing coronary disease involving the introduction of a dye into the arteries of heart, is now administered selectively, because of using - same as in A

(C) for diagnosing coronary disease, involves the introduction of dye into the arteries of the heart and is now administered selectively, because it uses - "for diagnosing" is correct. "involves the introduction of dye into the arteries of the heart " correctly refers to the noun "coronary angiography"

(D) to diagnose coronary disease that involves the introduction of a dye into the arteries of the heart, is now administered selectively, because it uses - we need a verb before "to diagnose". Also, because the method is real and not abstract we need a gerund (ING form)

(E) to diagnose coronary disease involving the introduction of a dye into the arteries of the heart, which is now administered selectively, uses - same as D. "which" is refering back to "heart"

C

(A) for diagnosing coronary disease involving the introduction of a dye into the arteries of the heart, is now administered selectively, because it uses ----> seems disease involves introduction of dye into…..
(B) for diagnosing coronary disease involving the introduction of a dye into the arteries of heart, is now administered selectively, because of using -----> same exp as A + because of using is odd
(C) for diagnosing coronary disease, involves the introduction of dye into the arteries of the heart and is now administered selectively, because it uses ---> correct usage of subject verb agreement + it clearly refers to Coronary Angiography
(D) to diagnose coronary disease that involves the introduction of a dye into the arteries of the heart, is now administered selectively, because it uses ---->seems coronary disease involves introduction of dye …..
(E) to diagnose coronary disease involving the introduction of a dye into the arteries of the heart, which is now administered selectively, uses -----> it seems heart is now administered by …..which is not correct

Involves is a Linking verb(LV) and is, is also a LV

See

Coronary angiography = a sophisticated method [u]for diagnosing coronary disease involving the introduction of a dye into the arteries of the heart

Is with no doubts is an LV

My assumption was that D is INCORRECT because in the phrase "disease that involves the introduction of a dye into the arteries of the heart
" that involves modifies disease. Logically it can not be that disease that involves introduction of a dye into the arteries of the heart, but method of treatment "Coronary angiography" involves intriduction of dye into the heart.
