Coronary angiography, a sophisticated method for diagnosing coronary disease involving the introduction of a dye into the arteries of the heart, is now administered selectively, because it uses x-rays to observe cardiac function.
(A) for diagnosing coronary disease involving the introduction of a dye into the arteries of the heart, is now administered selectively, because it uses
(B) for diagnosing coronary disease involving the introduction of a dye into the arteries of heart, is now administered selectively, because of using
(C) for diagnosing coronary disease, involves the introduction of dye into the arteries of the heart and is now administered selectively, because it uses
(D) to diagnose coronary disease that involves the introduction of a dye into the arteries of the heart, is now administered selectively, because it uses
(E) to diagnose coronary disease involving the introduction of a dye into the arteries of the heart, which is now administered selectively, uses
Plz explain your ans
Also why do we need a comma before 'because'

I think its C.
Rest of the choices say that coronary disease involves the introduction of the dye...its the method that involves this.
There is no hard and fast rule that because must have have a comma before it...in this case it holds true.

(A), (B) (E) use the modifier 'involving' after 'desease', which states that rather the deasease than the 'Coronary angiography' involves the introduction. Therefore wrong!
Further the meaning of the sentence states that 'Coronary angiography' is now administered selectively. (C) means that the' dye into the arm' is now administred selectively. (C) is out!
Then it is 'method for diagnosing' vs 'method to diagnose', which leads use propably to 'method to diagnose' (A), (B) and (C) are out.
(D) must me the right answer! cheers

C it is.
ON comma before BECAUSE -
Because is a subordinating conjunction and is used to make the independent clause (it uses x-rays to observe cardiac function) into a dependent clause (because it uses x-rays to observe cardiac function) which in turn is linked to the Independent clause -
Coronary angiography, a sophisticated method for diagnosing coronary disease involving the introduction of a dye into the arteries of the heart, is now administered selectively
Because the information in the Dependent clause is Parenthetical (not crucial to the overall meaning of the sentence) it is separated by a comma.

I feel modifier problem here
(B) for diagnosing coronary disease involving the introduction of a dye into the arteries of heart, is now administered selectively, because of using wrong
(C) for diagnosing coronary disease, involves the introduction of dye into the arteries of the heart and is now administered selectively, because it uses

All except C incorrectly imply that the procedure is used to diagnose coronary disease caused by introduction of dye into the arteries of the heart.

What is the source of this question ?
I really don't see why there should be a comma before "Because".

If we go for C then the sentence looks like this -
Coronary angiography (, a sophisticated method for diagnosing coronary disease, involves the introduction of dye into the arteries of the heart and) is now administered selectively, because it uses x-rays to observe cardiac function.
two commas should be separating the modifier.
In case of D the modifier is inbetween two commas-
Coronary angiography (, a sophisticated method to diagnose coronary disease that involves the introduction of a dye into the arteries of the heart, ) is now administered selectively, because it uses x-rays to observe cardiac function.
so i go with D

Wow ! I haven't seen so many people posting the wrong choice on a question for a long time.
"coronary disease that involves the introduction of a dye into the arteries"
According to D, the disease involves introduction of a dye !!!
It is actually "Coronary angiography" that involves the introduction of a dye into the arteries.
(C)

Here is the rule for suboridnate clause and Independent clause
Subordinate clause , Independent clause
Independent clause ( NO COMMA! ) Subordinate clause
Eg:
Because of some personal work, I could not come to office yesterday.
I could not come to office yesterday because of some personal work.
OA is C
Can anyone explain why we have a comma before because in the question?
