CR Need strategy [#permalink] New post 17 Jul 2012, 18:31
Hi,

I'm having trouble with CR, locating the correct answer.

I somehow select the wrong answer from the filtered last 2 answer choices. I tried to implement the T diagram, text to me approach but seems to be not working.

I found my 'boldface' questions are always wrong :(

I can also see there are many things posted under the CR section in the forum, not sure which one to pick..

Please help.

Often, we are stuck in 2 options in SC, sometimes in RC but it should not happen in CR often. The correct answer would be right in front of you if you understand the question well. You can pretty much guess what the answer would be like after reading the question in many cases (talking only about CR here). I strongly believe that CR is closer to Quant than Verbal.

Read the question stem first and you will be able to figure out what kind of question it is - strengthen/weaken/inference/method etc

Your basics should be clear - what does a strengthen question require you to do? Strengthen the conclusion of the argument. Find the conclusion of the argument. Think what would strengthen it. Look at the options and find what you are looking for. Most CR questions, no matter how tricky they look, are very straight forward (just like Quant questions)

I would suggest you to check out the Veritas CR books. They give you 3-4 pages on each question type where they discuss what the question demands, what you should look for and what to focus on. Thereafter, everything is explained with examples and then you have practice questions.
