I will go with E. reason being

higher level of certain vitamins and minerals in the bloodstream=>better lung function

If smokers to improve the lung function, they have to increase their intake of food rich in helpful certain vitamins and minerals , Just eating does not help, the vitamins and minerals need to get into bloodstream and clearly E is the argument on which it assumes

regards,
Pras

E

If smoking itself is the problem, then you wont have much luck when you take in more vitamins while smoking
