Re: Adults who work outside the home spend, on average, 100 minutes less [#permalink]
Hello Experts,

Can you please help me in understanding option D? As per my understanding, if the adult working outside eat 20%less often at home, then won't the number of courses be differed.
What does number of courses exactly mean in the argument?

Also i n option E, if adults working outside are less likely to plan, that means they are not spending any time in planning as compared to adults working at home. This can surely resolve the discrepancy, as number of courses are not differed, neither the nutritonal values nor the variety of menus and even spend less average time in making the dinner.

Please help

Thanks

Well the conclusion is that The adults working home spend 100 min more time preparing din than not working home, Yet the two group has similar menu, courses etc. So we have to find even despite less time how the two eat same courses etc. Well what if the 100 minutes equals 20% of the time they are not eating home?

If 20% of the time they are not eating home, then how come they have same number of courses? They are not eating home also means that they are not preparing the food and hence number of courses can't be same.

Please correct my understanding.

Hi

The stimulus states: "...the dinners eaten at home by the two groups of adults do not differ significantly with respect to...number of courses" ie; the number of courses for dinners remains the same.

This is to be interpreted as number of courses per dinner and not total number of courses for all dinners. Now, this can be explained by the "eating out" logic, since the time differential of 100 minutes is in total time for the week and not time required per dinner.

Hope this clarifies.
