Re: CR3-4 [#permalink]
I guess the answer is A, though C does have its merits. If the consumer does not know the answer to their own question, then they definitely allege. On the other hand it may serve as an opening statement to point out an implicit contradiction in the advertiser's argument...

Re: CR3-4 [#permalink]
Yes, I went for E!

Advertising has two effects: positive (lower subscription price for readers) and negative (high costs of goods that are advertised). The advertiser RESTRICTS THE DISCUSSION TO THE POSITIVE EFFECT of advertising and the consumer correctly points it out

I don't think the consumer ALLEGES anything, rather he broadens the subject and considers another aspect of it. So A is good but not accurate enough

I went for (D),

OlegC: then by your argument, how will you refute (D). Because if Advertiser holds the opinion of one side of the argument then he is biased isn't it.

Re: CR3-4 [#permalink]
Yes, the advertiser is biased but the consumer DOESN'T ATTACK this

D would be true if consumer said "You are the advertiser and you often defend the benefit of your business!". The consumer doesn't do that. Instead he says "but consider this..." thus taking the argument into another area
