Critical Reasoning Dilemma [#permalink] New post 23 Feb 2014, 10:08
I am having a weird dilemma.

Here is the background.
I sucked at CR 6-7 months ago- couldn't tell want the hell was being asked about and couldn't tell the arguments head from tail.
I studied sporadically for 4 months and diligently for the 5th month. Only used PowerScore CR Bible. Month 6 was "Mind Like Water".
When I went over the OG12 guide - It was amazing - Got Fist 70 questions of CR - 97% CORRECT. And Best of all - I knew what was going on.

So, i moved on to Sentence Correction. I have always had ~65% success rate here. Want to take it higher.

However, now when i went over the CR questions #70-#90 - I was not clear what was being asked!!

It seems that i lost it !!!

Does anyone have similar experience?
How do you handle this?

It seems that the GMAT Skill are easily forgettable - How to handle this?

Thanks,
Vin

Hi vingmat001,

Think of these questions as requiring a different thinking cap or brain. When you switch from one type of question to another - you need to switching thinking caps. If you are in SC mode and then switch to CR --- you need to psychologically adjust your thinking slightly. It could be because you are not used to mixing different types of verbal questions together.

The good part is that you did --at some point -- master CR. Next you need to master SC separately. Then the hard part will be putting it all together--under pressure--this is where you are at now. It will be tricky, but go back and recall how you got those CR questions correct. Visualize how you would get them correct again next time --and then put yourself to the test to see if you can actually do it.

Practice on old questions but also test yourself on new ones. For more practice, go to: http://www.gmatpill.com/gmat-practice-t ... -questions

Good luck!
