Critical Reasoning Guides: Manhattan vs PowerScore [#permalink]

I need to hear from someone that has the CR guide produced by Manhattan GMAT. Is it worth it? What benefit did it give you? How much do you think it improved your verbal?

I dont think you will benefit much from the MGMAT CR book. Powerscore GMAT bible is the way to go!

This post received KUDOS
I bought the whole set and the CR guide was the least helpful book among them. Save your $26.

Would you ask your boss that if (s)he assigned you a long project? "That could take me a whole month! Isn't there a shortcut way?" If you want quality results, you HAVE to put in the time. rao_1857 wrote: rigger wrote: Definitely not worth it! Powerscore is much better. OOh BTW I am assuming that you did see a significant difference after going thru this right? Hope you understand, The only reason I am asking this is because I dont wanna waste the resource...I am stuck under this tight project here.

I have Manhattan CR book but I have not opened that one yet ( I felt discouraged after reading several posts here). I must say Powerscore CR bible is the real bible for CR. No doubt about it.

I did notice a difference in my ability to answer CR. I got V38 on my first GMAT take and V42 (95%) on my second GMAT take.

I have not used the book, but have gone through a few pages (at a local bookstore). Not impressive. I found Powerscore book far better. I have used it and benefited from it

CR Assumption is one of the most difficult sections for me. The CR Bible teaches us that there are two types of assumption question types: Supporter and Defender. The Bible intends to say that the concept: "Premises + (Assumption) = Conclusion" fits only in the Supporter whereas this strategy does not fit in the Defender. My question to everyone out there is that have you ever tried to simplify this aspect? I am currently fighting with the fact that why CR Bible has come up with two approaches whereas Manhattan has completed the whole book on just ONE concept - P + (A) = C.
