What a difference an admit makes...in R1 these posts would have made me so anxious. Now when I see R2 interview invites going out I feel excited for all of you!

I got some sort of invite to an E-MBA info session even though I only have 3.5 years of w/e and I'm 25.

Definitely got thrown onto a listserv by mistake.

This post is in regards to the invitation to interview for the Executive MBA program at Darden. First of all, congratulations to those of you in this position - even though this may not be the program you applied to, or prefer at this point, I do want to say that the program has a stellar reputation and some great features that might be attractive to you.

To provide a bit more context, the biggest reason Darden extends full-time applicants an invitation to interview for the Executive MBA program is that the applicant’s professional experience is better suited to this program. The school believes that you will get more out of the Executive MBA than from the full-time MBA (which is geared towards students with less experience). It’s all about fit, and Darden seeks to place students in a program that they’ll benefit the most from, professionally and personally.

To note, Darden’s EMBA and Global EMBA (GEMBA) program both cover the same core curriculum as the school’s full-time MBA format, are taught by the same faculty, utilize the same Darden case method and result in the same degree. Regarding the concern about making a career switch, this has actually become a more and more common occurrence among EMBA students, and Darden provides strong resources to support this, including allowing EMBA and GEMBA students to participate in on-campus interviewing.

For more specific information, you can visit the Darden website, reach out to the Admissions Office, and/or contact the EMBA programs at ExecMBA@darden.virginia.edu. Darden can also connect you to students in the EMBA program, including some who were in the same situation last year. Please feel free to send me a personal message with any questions. Best wishes.

I am intrigued by the points raised by CurrentDardenStudent and have some questions about E-MBA.

I understand E-MBA@Darden shares same renowned resources but does the degree say MBA from Darden of E-MBA from Darden?

Also switching career after E-MBA sounds not so plausible. You don't have internship opportunities or clubs. Are E-MBA students allowed to attend the career events meant for full time students? Some schools have strict restrictions i.e. part time career services are separate from full time.

I apologise if my questions have been answered by the adcom or on the darden's website. I haven't really explored E-MBA programs.

---

The degree says MBA. Darden has one MBA program that is available in three formats: full-time, MBA for Executives, and Global MBA for Executives. All three formats result in the same MBA degree from the Darden School of Business.

And a large percentage of Darden EMBA students do switch jobs/careers throughout the program. EMBA students are allowed to attend the same career events that full-time students go to. This may mean more travel for the EMBA student, but if you can make it to Charlottesville for the event, then you are welcome to go to it. Also, you may be interested in reviewing other Darden career transition resources for EMBA students, which include a 12-week job launch seminar and one-on-one career coaching. You can find more information here: http://www.darden.virginia.edu/web/Exec ... Resources/

To all R1 admitted people:
Has everybody started verification process with Re Vera ? I have not initiated the process yet.
I wonder if there is a deadline to the initiation of the process. Intermittently, I feel anxious about it.

I spoke to the Admissions Office, and the verification process is actually due on the deposit deadline of each round (so for Round 1 this is February 28th). Re Vera Services (the company that does the verification) will contact the two individuals that provided recommendations for your application. If they have difficulty getting in touch with them, there is a slight possibility that HR may be contacted. Because Darden and Re Vera Services realize that not every applicant wishes for their business school plans to be known so early in the year, you have the option of putting your employment or entire record on hold with Re Vera until you are ready to inform your company/organization. But again, you will need to start the process with Re Vera on or before the deposit deadline for the round you are in. If you are concerned that your HR department will be contacted earlier than you prefer, you can email Re Vera and ask for a hold. The email contact is darden@reveraservices.com. Hope this helps.
