Darlene averaged a score of 70 out of 110 on evaluations from 1/3 of her

supervisors. If Darlene wishes to average a score of 90 out of 110 on all of her evaluations, by approximately what percent must her average score increase

on the remaining 2/3 of the evaluations?

If x is avg score from the other 2/3rd,

(7/11 + 2x) / 3 = 9/11

7/11 + 2x = 27/11
2x = 20/11
x = 10/11

%increase = 3/11 / 7/11 x 100
= 300 / 7 = 42.8 = 43%...

1/3*70/110 + 2/3*X/110 = 90/110

X=100

% increase from 70 = 43%

lets say ...number of supervisors = 30

10 supervisors => average of 70 .total score 700

20 supervisors => average => let it be X

we know... 700 + X / 30 = 90

X = 2000

average = 100 ( 2000/20)

increase 100 - 70 /70 = 30/70 =3/7 = 43 percent
