B and D are not parrallel with the portion after ;
C has verb disagreement between the portion b4 and portion after ;

I am kinda stuck between A and E
I go with E because merely is an adverb and we need a verb it can modify. Hence summarize seems to be correct

since the 2nd part of the sentence refers to "he" the first part has to refer to degler and not his study , so we are left with A,C,E. Since the first and the 2nd sentence represent parallel ideas it should be summarize and not the ing form so the ans is E

E is my FA - Agree with Srijay (merely is an adverb which is correctly placed to modify "summarize")

C is out as "has done" does not agree with "constructs"

OA is A

I too chose E considering adverb modifying verb. But the same is true to A too. I guess, "existing" does the trick--makes it present/ongoing.

a bit late my ans ...

A ... although E is close it has a flaw...

''degler did more than merely summarize'' is a better way of forming the sentence....

U see the past and present tense are not coherent here...

A says '' does..... summarizing '' which is ok cos prsent tense and present continous can be shown as action follown...

tht is where E goes out of rythm.

Have fun :)

SOrry for late coming, I picked A.

E is out cos "Degler does" should be understood as what Degler does so summerizing is needed here.
