Depressed but still trying [#permalink] New post 09 Jan 2008, 06:06
I took my GMAT (Q45/V24) and got a 560. I want to get a 700+ and have rescheduled my test in Feb (a month from now). I know my weakness area is Verbal but when I do the verbal questions separately, I do fine. But somehow I mess up in the actual exam. Any ideas to take a "quantum leap" in my verbal score. I plan to take full-lengths tests(atleast 2 per week).

I would give yourself more than a month to jump from a 560 to 700+ if you're struggling with verbal. I believe that takes a bit longer to master than quant.

If you are doing fine when you are attempting only verbal questions but not in full test, then it could be an issue of concentration and focus. Your plan to write more full length tests is good. Also do not skip AWA, it does take a toll in the exam. I skipped AWA on most of my practice tests and found my self tired in middle of verbal section. For full length tests I used Princeton review and Manhattan CATS.

I would definitely review the basics. Doing full tests may not help if you are getting the same types of questions wrong over and over again.

What are the specific problems you're having with verbal? SC, CR, particular types of questions? I got a 41 and I'd love to have your quant score. Happy to impart any knowledge I may have
