Depressed, Scored a 590 today. Profile eval. Please help! [#permalink]
29 Mar 2011, 00:36
I need your help! Please help evaluate my profile. I just took my GMAT today and received a 590 score, I'm frankly a little disappointed. I was hoping to get high enough score to apply to UCLA FEMBA, USC PM or any top 20 school, but unfortunately my score only allows for USC PM.
Thank you in advance for taking a look at my profile, if you have suggestions of other top tier schools that you think I would have a shot with or you have heard of admission success stories with low GPA please share. Any words of encouragement is greatly appreciated at this point.

10 years management experience in Health Care (7 years managing a Radiology Clinic/3 years in Health Care staffing/sales)
3 of those 10 years I owned a Import/export recycling company part-time.
I have 2 internet start ups in development this year. Projected launch date for both is summer of 2011.
I will definitely have a great letter or reference from the current President of my company, current clients and also a reference for a Physician at my previous company.

From the work ex you have stated, I am guessing that you are from a non Engg/Math back ground. There is still plenty of time for the R1 applciations and having given the exam once, you will know how to pcase your preparation this time. Increasing the Q score is a lot easier than V. I took my date for the June last week and will be starting the preparation from tomorrow. I am retaking. So dont worry, there are many folks like you on this site and there is always a second shot at GMAT. On a diff note, your profile looks great and you will not need a high 750 to crack the top schools, just crack the 700 barrier and I am sure you will get into any school of your choice. Regards

Yes, I think we can only theorize when you don't break it down, in your practice exams what was your make up? strengths weaknesses? etc etc also: admission-consultants-124/This section of the forum might be able to help you out, there is a wealth of knowledge there

540 is the average score, so you are better than average, if that helps to know. 590 is probably enough to get into the most Part Time programs in the So Cal. UCLA may be a bit picky about it but should not be that much hassle with your experience.

You may want to post a profile eval request in the admissions consultants forum

Regards Thanks for your response. This is actually my third attempt at the GMAT the first two in 2008, scored 540. Retaking is an option but definitely not something I want to do again. I've spent too much time on this and I feel its time to move on. I'll just apply to USC and see where that takes me. Good luck on your retake, I hope you get a better school then I did.

Someone on the forum said they spoke with the Director of Admissions at UCLA and they told them that they didn't even bother looking at his resume since it didn't meet their GMAT range. From your experience have you heard of something like this or have you heard of any encouraging stories of low gmat admission success to both UCLA and USC part time. Please share if possible. THANKS!!!
