Why use noun phrases when full s+v sentences have clearer meaning?

here you dont want to use could, since indicate is already suggest that it happens, so can is best...although is correctly used..

Although E looks little wordy to me, it is the best choice out of all. In D, Apart from S-V error, is the construction "Although not proved..." acceptable? How about "Despite no proof that.." in A? Is it idiomatic at all?
